Solar salt only. Never mined rock salt.

Rock salt comes out of the ground with what was around it — clay, shale, anhydrite. None of that dissolves. It settles out of the brine and packs into valves, screens and nozzles, which is a problem you discover at 3am with a boom that has stopped spraying. Solar salt is evaporated rather than mined, so the insolubles were left behind before it ever reached us. It costs more per ton and we buy it anyway.

It is made to be pumped, not shovelled

Already dissolved means it goes straight through a pump and a nozzle at the rate you set. Nothing to spread, nothing to bounce off the pavement into the grass, and no bags to cut, lift, or dispose of.

Made to a stated target

Sodium chloride brine. Target concentration: 23.3% salt by weight. That is the concentration salt brine works best at — it is where the freezing point bottoms out, and it is the figure state winter-maintenance programmes aim for. It is the target the yard mixes to, stated plainly so you can compare it with whatever you are buying now. That is the whole of the claim, and it is the kind that can be checked: the number is a production target, and what a given load does on a given surface on a given morning is down to the morning.

Our liquid salt brine, sold by the gallon for anti-icing. Sprayed on pavement before a storm, brine leaves a salt film that stops ice from bonding, so plows can scrape closer to bare pavement and crews use less material overall. Bring a tank, a nurse trailer, or totes and we'll load you.

Order it

Pick brine by the gallon or salt by the yard, set the quantity, choose pickup or delivery, and pay by card. The page prices the lot — volume break, delivery fee and tax — before you pay, and no call or quote request is needed for a normal order. You get an order code back: a short one, meant to be read out loud at the gate.

Bring something to put it in

For bulk pickup, any suitable clean container rated for liquid and mounted securely on your truck or trailer. Brine is roughly 10 pounds a gallon, so check your ratings before you load 500 of them. Totes and drums come in their own container.

Load and go

Loading happens at the yard during its posted hours, which are on the yard's page, and you pick your day when you order. There is no unattended self-serve fill, so if you need a load outside posted hours, use the quote form before you set off rather than finding a closed gate.

What we won't tell you on a web page

We don't publish a concentration, an effective temperature, or batch test values, because we don't yet have a signed-off testing programme to stand behind them. Printing a number we can't tie to a tested batch would be worth more to us than it is to you, which is the wrong way round.
